On the neighbour island of Manda there are several beaches that are most often quite empty. You can go there by dhow directly from Lamu city, it takes about 20 minutes with local dhow. The beaches are situated in the straight between Lamu and Manda islands and thereby protected against the open sea. There are one restaurant on Manda, and sometimes salesmen passes with Samosas.
