| Jambo, we just arrived from Kenya (august 2007) and we still have , in our heads ,some beautiful " souvenirs", and Jannat House is a good "souvenir":the peacefull atmosphere, every people was kind,it's a place with a soul, and Lamu stay in my mind like a lovely town, with busy donkeys, smily people, and so on...in french: nous recommandons cet hotel à tous ceux qui aiment les endroits qui ont une âme et qui dégagent un climat de paix et de sérénité à l'image de cette ville qui laisse un souvenir impérissable, même si nous l'avons vécu parfois sous la pluie, ce qui n'altère en rien le charme du lieu et de ses habitants. Je regrette que le guide du Routard n'ait pas été plus élogieux à l'égard de Jannat house, qui ne correspond pas du tout à la description qu'il en donne ..c'est justement le genre d'endroit qu'en principe il porte aux nues! We spent 6 nights at Jannat House at the end of July and wanted to thank you for a lovely stay. It's a beautiful house and we were very comfortable there. There were occasional problems with the shower ( we were staying in Habari), but they were quickly solved and the room itself was really good. The whole place was a haven of peace away from the hustle of the Lamu streets and a great place to stay. I also need to praise your staff, especially Douglas who served the breakfasts. They were all helpful and friendly and we enjoyed spending time with them. The fact that we could speak kiswahili with them helped, but their English was good anyway. If we, or our friends go to Lamu again, we would definitely choose to stay at Jannat House. Thank you.

After a very intresting flight where one of our engines caught on fire and we were delayed for hours after an emergency landing i met the part owners of Jannat House who were on the same flight. |
Let's emphasize again how much we liked the atmosphere and excellent service at Jannat House.
Thanks again and best regards on behalf of The Huisman family. The Netherlands January 2006 |
Hujambo! My daughter Hannah and myself enjoyed a wonderful stay for 2 nights in May, 2005 at your lovely oasis.
We were so well taken care of with respect by Mark and by a couple of other staff members. One day we were swimming in the pool and the barman began playing Bob Marley. My daughter, who has dredlocks, and I starting singing along with all the songs. That memory will stay with us the rest of our lives. Another night under the stars we had a lovely discussion with two young Swedish teachers.
We wanted to say "hey do" to them, but lost their addresses. We wish there were more Americans like them. I hope I can come back to Lamu and Jannat House as soon as possible (2 years?).
I would like to bring my husband so he can see your beautiful, peaceful paradise. I have even begun studying Swahili at our University in Buffalo, NY.
My daughter is now studying anthropology in New York City and sends her warm regards to Mark and "the barman." Sante sana na kwa heri!
