Situation in Kenya February 2008

The good work by Kofi Annan has resulted in an agreement between the two politicians.

They agreed to start an thorough investigation regarding the events of the election, in order to stop all rumours about cheat.
They also agreed upon taking steps in order to calm the pepole down.
The current situation is therefor almost back to normal life, except for all those people that had to flee during the conflict.
Hopefully they can go back to their homes as soon as possible.

Background

After the elections in Kenya, there were accusations about vote counting frauds.
Since the two major tribes in Kenya (Kikoyes and Luo) support there own candidate (Kibaki and Odinga), a conflict started which mainly is between the two tribes.

Conflict areas were in the slum in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.
Airports wsa never not affected, nor Lamu since the two tribes are not represented in that district.

In Lamu 80% of the population are Arabs.
So we regard it as completely safe to come to Lamu now again..
